Biography -  Francesca Pascali

Born in Bari to Apulian parents (mother Chiara De Santis and father Mario Pascali), Class of '82, second child, raised in this land rich in Tradition and Perfumes, I took my first steps between Bari and Martina Franca in the summer residence of family, a Trullo nestled in the Itria Valley.

In the family I have experienced art since I was a child through the paintings of the great-grandfather Vito Grieco, decorator of the early 1900s and famous for having painted Art Nouveau buildings such as the kursaal Santa Lucia, the dome and the entrance to the foyer of the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari (went lost in the fire of '91).

The support of my uncle "Tonio" was also important. Gen. Antonio Tomasicchio, a man with an iron career and a romantic heart, was my first art teacher.

Uncle Antonio was a prolific painter with a happy hand, he taught me at the age of 8 to draw and paint still lifes, while he painted, I stayed close to him and tried to imitate his technique, drawing fruit baskets and coloring with watercolor pastels.

“At the tender age of 8 I painted like an adult, today I paint with the eyes of a child.”

Scientific high school diploma arrived in '2000, after an initial period of work, I subsequently enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari in the scenography course with professor De Filippis, where I acquired techniques for developing theatrical scenography.

The academic project ends with regret two years later, due to work-related needs.

Il  2008 was a sabbatical year, I leave work, friendships, leave for London and return a year later with a baggage full of art and new stimuli.

In London I started drawing again, scribbles which then became real drawings full of meaning, a liberating act and at the same time in search of myself, a continuous line of thoughts and memories that move within a blank sheet.

Upon my return to Italy I was ready to embark on a new artistic path, bringing the "scribbles" back onto the canvas. In the initial phase I had a block on color, it intimidated me, to then let me go definitively shortly after the loss of my father; today I can't help but fully express myself even through lively color palettes, full of life..

At the moment I'm busy with several art projects that will soon be visible online...
